Mental
Illnesses are among the most debilitating and widespread disabilities
worldwide. Despite this, there has never been an electronic tool available
for diagnosing the full range of psychiatric illnesses.
A computerized version of a standardized psychiatric interview, that is
widely used in the United States (SCID, Structured Clinical Interview for
Diagnostic and Statistical Manual IV Axis I Disorders), has been developed and implemented in this current software. This
novel, platform-independent software is based on Java, Java Enterprise Beans and
Oracle to assure the consistency of the data derived from the questionnaire. The
collected interviews can be administered by a web tool that has been developed
based on the Struts-framework using Java Server Pages and Servlets.
