Coding and non-coding RNAs in human metabolic diseases:
from discovery to function

Our aim is to provide novel molecular targets for the prevention and treatment of obesity, diabetes, and osteoporosis. We are currently characterizing endogenous non-coding RNAs with focus on lipid and glucose metabolism in adipocytes and adipose tissue. So far, the largest and best characterized class of non-coding RNAs are microRNAs which have been shown to be novel regulators in biological processes and related diseases such as obesity, diabetes, and osteoporosis.
